Always use a cold rinse when doing your laundry. This can save upwards of $60 a year.
Make your own cleaning products as much as possible. For example, baking soda has a ton of great uses and is very economical. Go to www.armandhammer.com.
Think twice about driving that car of yours. With gas prices through the roof, it pays to a bit greener with your transportation. Choose an alternative means of transportation and instantly save money.
Use those home improvement and energy star programs and get some hard earned money back. To learn more, go to www.energystar.gov.
Buy in bulk. Warehouses like Costco (www.costco.com) are starting to sell Earth friendly products. You can also buy Seventh Generation at great prices and in bulk by going to www.amazon.com.
Think simple. We don’t need a lot of stuff (even if it’s on sale for a great price). Changing our mind set to buy one well made and long lasting item is better and causes less waste in our environment than ten things that are made poorly and will break soon after we purchase it.
Switch from a daily store purchased coffee to a nice home brewed coffee. Put that $3.00 or more you’d spend on a store bought coffee into your vacation fund. By the end of the year, you could have more than $500 in as little as a year (depending, of course, on how often you frequent the coffee shops.)
Make your own bottled beverage. For example, instead of spending $1 to $2 on a bottle of green tea, make your own. You can even reuse the glass bottles and just brew up a few batches and put them in your fridge. Now you can grab a tea on the go, and it costs you a shiny dime. For one of my favorite tea varieties, go to www.yogitea.com.
